And he left them, and went out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there. And in the morning, as he was returning to the city, he was hungry. And seeing one figtree by the roadside, he went up to it, and found nothing on it, but leaves only; and he saith to it, Let there be no fruit from thee hencefoward for ever. And the disciples seeing it, marveled, saying, How suddenly did the figtree wither! Jesus answering said to them, Truly do I say to you, If ye have faith, and do not doubt, not only shall ye do what hath been done to the figtree, but should ye even say to this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea, it would be done. And all things whatever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye will receive.

And on the morrow, when they had come from Bethany, he was hungry; and seeing a figtree afar off having leaves, he went to see whether he might find anything on it; and on coming to it he found nothing but leaves; for the season of figs had not come. And he answering said to it, Let no one eat fruit from thee henceforth for ever. And his disciples heard him.

And in the morning, as they were passing by, they saw the figtree withered from the roots. And Peter remembered and said to him, Rabbi, see! the figtree which thou didst curse is withered away. And Jesus answering saith to them, Have faith in God. read more.
