Mark 12:1

And He began to speak to them in parables, "A man planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and dug a wine-vat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into another country.

Mark 12:2

And, at the season, he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruits of the vineyard.

Mark 12:3

And, taking him, they beat him, and sent him away empty.

Mark 12:4

And again he sent to them another servant; and him they wounded in the head, and dishonored.

Mark 12:5

And he sent another; and him they killed; and many others, beating some, and killing some.

Mark 12:6

He had yet one, a beloved son; he sent him to them last, saying, 'They will pay deference to my son.'

Mark 12:7

But those husbandmen said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.'

Mark 12:8

And, taking him, they killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.

Mark 12:9

What, therefore, will the lord of the vineyard do! He will come, and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others.

Mark 12:10

Did ye never read the Scripture, "The stone which the builders rejected, the same became the head of a corner;

Mark 12:11

this was from the Lord, and is marvelous in our eyes?"

And they were seeking to lay hold of Him; and they feared the multitude; for they knew that He spake the parable against them; and, leaving Him, they went away.

Mark 12:13

And they send to Him some of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, that they may entrap Him in speech.

Mark 12:14

And, coming, they say to Him, "Teacher, we know that Thou art true, and carest not for any one; for Thou lookest not into the face of men, but in truth teachest the way of God. Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?

Mark 12:15

Shall we give, or shall we not give?" But He, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, "Why are ye tempting Me? Bring Me a denary, that I may see it."

Mark 12:16

And they brought it. And He saith to them, "Whose is this image and inscription?" And they said to Him, "Caesar's."

Mark 12:17

And Jesus said to them, "Render to Caesar the things of Caesar, and to God the things of God." And they wondered exceedingly at Him.

Mark 12:18

And there come to Him the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and they were asking Him, saying,

Mark 12:19

"Teacher, Moses wrote to us, 'If any man's brother die, and leave a wife behind, and leave no child, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed to his brother.'

Mark 12:20

There were seven brothers; and the first took a wife; and, dying, left no seed.

Mark 12:21

And the second took her, and died, leaving no seed; and the third likewise.

Mark 12:22

And the seven left no seed. Last of all the woman also died.

Mark 12:23

In the resurrection whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her as a wife."

Mark 12:24

Jesus said to them, "Is it not on this account that ye err, because ye know not the Scriptures, nor the power of God?

Mark 12:25

For, when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels in Heaven.

Mark 12:26

But, concerning the dead, that they are raised, did ye not read in the book of Moses, at the 'Bush,' how God spake to him, saying, 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?'

Mark 12:27

He is not the God of the dead, but of the living: ye do greatly err."

Mark 12:28

And one of the scribes, coming near, hearing them discussing together, knowing that He answered them well, asked Him, "What commandment is first of all?"

Mark 12:29

Jesus answered, "The first is, 'Hear, O Israel; the Lord is our God, the Lord is One;

Mark 12:30

and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your mind and with all your strength.'

Mark 12:31

A second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

Mark 12:32

The scribe said to Him, "Well, Teacher, Thou didst say truly that He is One, and there is not another beside Him;

Mark 12:33

and to love Him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as himself, is much more than all the whole burnt-offerings and sacrifices."

Mark 12:34

And Jesus, seeing that he answered discreetly, said to him, "You are not far from the Kingdom of God." And no one any more dared to question Him.

Mark 12:35

And Jesus, answering, said, while teaching in the temple, "How do the scribes say that the Christ is David's Son?

Mark 12:36

David himself said in the Holy Spirit, 'The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on My right hand, until I put Thy enemies underneath Thy feet.'

Mark 12:37

David himself calls Him Lord; and whence is He his Son?" And the great multitude heard Him gladly.

Mark 12:38

And in His teaching He said, "Beware of the scribes, who wish to walk about in long robes and have salutations in the marketplaces,

Mark 12:39

and the first seats in the synagogues, and the first places at the feasts;

Mark 12:40

who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers; these shall receive greater condemnation."

Mark 12:41

And, haring taken a seat over against the treasury, He was beholding how the multitude cast money into the treasury; and many who were rich cast in much.

Mark 12:42

And one poor widow, coming, cast in two mites, which is a farthing.

Mark 12:43

And, calling to Him His disciples, He said to them, "Verily I say to you, this poor widow cast in more than all who are casting into the treasury;

Mark 12:44

for they all did cast in out of their abundance; but she out of her want cast in all that she had??er whole living."
