Peter » His treachery foretold by jesus, and his profession of fidelity
Peter answered: Even if everyone falls away because of you, I will never fall away. Jesus said: I say to you, this very night, before a rooster crows, you will deny me three times. Peter protested: Even if I must die for you, I would not deny you! His disciples said the same thing.
Simon Peter said: Lord where are you going? Jesus answered: Where I am going you cannot follow me now. You will follow me later. Peter said: Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you. Jesus answered: Will you lay down your life for me? Truly I tell you the cock will not crow till you have denied me three times.
