Mark 14:1

Now after two days was the passover, and the feast of unleavened bread; and the high priests and the scribes were seeking how, taking Him by guile, they might kill Him;

Mark 14:2

for they said, "Not during the feast, lest there should be an uproar of the people."

Mark 14:3

And, while He was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as He was reclining at table, there came a woman having an alabaster cruse of ointment of pure spikenard, very costly; and, having broken the cruse, she was pouring it down on His bead.

Mark 14:4

But there were some who were much displeased among themselves, saying, "To what purpose has this waste of the ointment been made?

Mark 14:5

For this ointment could have been sold for above three hundred denaries, and given to the poor!" And they were murmuring against her.

Mark 14:6

But Jesus said, "Let her alone; why do ye cause her trouble? She wrought a good work on Me;

Mark 14:7

for the poor ye always have with you; and whensoever ye will, ye can do them good; but Me ye have not always.

Mark 14:8

She did what she could: she anointed My body beforehand for the burial.

Mark 14:9

And verily I say to you, wheresoever the Gospel shall be preached in the whole world, that also which this woman did shall be spoken of for a memorial of her."

Mark 14:10

And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went away to the high priests, that he might deliver Him up to them.

Mark 14:11

And they, hearing it, rejoiced, and promised to give him money. And he was seeking how he might conveniently deliver Him up.

Mark 14:12

And, on the first day of the unleavened bread, when they were slaying the passover, His disciples say to Him, "Where dost Thou wish that we, going, prepare, that Thou mayest eat the passover?"

Mark 14:13

And He sendeth two of His disciples, and saith to them, "Go your way into the city; and there will meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water; follow him.

Mark 14:14

And, wheresoever he enters, say ye to the master of the house, 'The Teacher saith, Where is My guest-chamber, where I may eat the passover with My disciples?'

Mark 14:15

And he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; and there make ready for us."

Mark 14:16

And the disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as He said to them; and they made ready the passover.

Mark 14:17

And, evening coming on, He cometh with the twelve.

Mark 14:18

And as they were reclining at table and eating, Jesus said, "Verily I say to you, one of you will betray Me??ne who is eating with Me."

Mark 14:19

They began to be sorrowful, and to say to Him, one by one, "Is it I?"

Mark 14:20

And He said to them, "It is one of the twelve??e that is dipping with Me in the dish.

Mark 14:21

Because the Son of Man is going as it has been written concerning Him; but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It were good for him, if that man had not been born."

Mark 14:22

And, as they were eating, having taken bread and blessed it, He broke, and gave to them, and said, "Take ye; this is My body."

Mark 14:23

And taking a cup, and blessing it, He gave it to them; and they all drank of it.

Mark 14:24

And He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out in behalf of many.

Mark 14:25

Verily I say to you, I will no more drink of the fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new in the Kingdom of God."

Mark 14:26

And, having sung a hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

Mark 14:27

And Jesus saith to them, "All ye will be made to stumble; because it has been written, 'I will smite the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered abroad.'

Mark 14:28

But, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee."

Mark 14:29

But Peter said to Him, "If even all should be made to stumble, yet will not I!"

Mark 14:30

And Jesus saith to him, "Verily I say to you, that you today, in this night, before the cock crows twice, will thrice deny Me."

Mark 14:31

But he kept saying with great vehemence, "If I must die with Thee, I will not deny Thee!" And in like manner also said they all.

Mark 14:32

And they come to a place the name of which is Gethsemane. And He saith to His disciples, "Sit ye here, while I pray."

Mark 14:33

And He taketh with Him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly amazed, and to be in distress.

Mark 14:34

And He saith to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, unto death! Abide here, and watch."

Mark 14:35

And going forward a little, He fell on the ground, and was praying, that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from Him.

Mark 14:36

And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible to Thee; take away this cup from Me; yet not what I will, but what Thou wilt."

Mark 14:37

And He cometh and findeth them sleeping, and saith to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? were you not able to watch one hour?

Mark 14:38

Watch, and pray, that ye enter not into temptation. The spirit, indeed, is willing, but the flesh is weak."

Mark 14:39

And, going away again, He prayed, saying the same thing.

Mark 14:40

And, returning, He found them again sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they knew not what to answer Him.

Mark 14:41

And He cometh the third time, and saith to them, "Sleep on the remaining time, and take your rest. It is enough; the hour came; behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

Mark 14:42

Arise, let us be going. Behold, he that is betraying Me has come near."

Mark 14:43

And straightway, while He yet spake, comes Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a multitude with swords and clubs, from the high priests and the scribes and the elders.

Mark 14:44

Now he that was betraying Him gave them a signal, saying, "Whomsoever I shall kiss, This is He, take Him, and lead Him away securely."

Mark 14:45

And, having come, going straightway to Him, he says, "Rabbi;" and kissed Him.

Mark 14:46

And they laid hands on Him, and took Him.

Mark 14:47

And one of those standing by, having drawn his sword, smote the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear.

Mark 14:48

And Jesus answering, said to them, "Did ye come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs, to seize Me?

Mark 14:49

I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye did not take Me; but this is done that the Scriptures may be fulfilled."

Mark 14:50

And, having left Him, they all fled.

Mark 14:51

And a certain young man was following with Him, having a linen cloth thrown around his naked body; and they lay hold on him;

Mark 14:52

but, leaving the linen cloth, he fled naked.

Mark 14:53

And they led Jesus away to the high priest; and there come together with him all the high priests and the elders and the scribes.

Mark 14:54

And Peter followed Him afar off, even within into the court of the high priest; and he was sitting with the attendants, and he was warming himself at the light of the fire.

Mark 14:55

And the high priests and all the Sanhedrin were seeking for testimony against Jesus, in order to put Him to death; and they were not finding it.

Mark 14:56

For many were bearing false testimony against Him, and their testimonies were not agreed.

Mark 14:57

And certain ones, standing up, were bearing false testimony against Him, saying,

Mark 14:58

"We heard Him say, 'I will destroy this temple made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.'"

Mark 14:59

And not even so did their testimony agree.

Mark 14:60

And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, "Dost Thou answer nothing? What do these testify against Thee?"

Mark 14:61

But He was silent, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, and says to Him, "Art Thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?"

Mark 14:62

And Jesus said, "I am; and ye shall see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven."

Mark 14:63

And the high priest, rending his clothes, says, "What further need have we of witnesses?

Mark 14:64

Ye heard the blasphemy: what think ye?" And they all condemned Him to be worthy of death.

Mark 14:65

And some began to spit on Him, and to cover His face, and to buffet Him, and to say to Him, "Prophesy;" and the officers received Him with blows of their hands.

Mark 14:66

And, as Peter was beneath in the court, there comes one of the maids of the high priest;

Mark 14:67

and, seeing Peter warming himself, she looked at him, and says, "You also were with the Nazarene, Jesus."

Mark 14:68

But he denied, saying, "I neither know nor understand what you are saying." And he went out into the porch [and the cock crowed].

Mark 14:69

And the maid, seeing him, began again to say to those standing by, This is one of them."

Mark 14:70

But he again denied. And, after a little while, those who stood by said to Peter, "Of a truth you are one of them; for you are a Galilaean."

Mark 14:71

But he began to curse, and to swear, "I know not This Man of Whom ye speak."

Mark 14:72

And straightway the second time the cock crowed. And Peter remembered the word, how Jesus said to him, "Before the cock crows twice, you will deny Me thrice." And, having thought thereon, he kept weeping.
