For the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!" Then they began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this. A dispute also arose among them, which of them was to be considered the greatest. read more.
And he said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and those who exercise authority over them are called benefactors. But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the youngest, and he who leads as one who serves. For who is greater, one who sits at the table, or one who serves? Is it not the one who sits at the table? But I am among you as One who serves.

And they came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, "What were you discussing on the road?" But they kept silent; for on the way they had discussed with one another who was the greatest. And he took a little child, and put him in the midst of them. And taking him in his arms, he said to them, "Whoever receives one of these little children in my name receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me." John said to him, "Teacher, we saw a man casting out demons in your name and we forbade him, because he was not one of us." But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him, for no one who does a miracle in my name can soon afterward speak evil of me. For he who is not against us is for us. For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in my name, because you belong to Christ, will by no means lose his reward. "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung round his neck and he were thrown into the sea. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, to the fire that shall never be quenched. (...) And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. (...) And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where 'their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.' For every one will be salted with fire. Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another."

And an argument arose among them as to which of them would be the greatest. Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a little child and set him by him, and said to them, "Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the one who is great." read more.
