Six days after this, Jesus took Peter and James and his brother John, and led them up on a high mountain, by themselves. And Peter spoke, and said to Jesus, "Master, how good it is that we are here! If you wish, I will make three huts here, one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah." As he spoke a bright cloud overshadowed them and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, my Beloved. He is my Chosen. Listen to him!" When the disciples heard it, they were dreadfully frightened and fell upon their faces. And Jesus came and touched them, and said, "Get up and do not be afraid." It is in just that way that the Son of Man is going to be treated by them!" Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.

He said to them, "Elijah does come first, and reforms everything, and does not the Scripture say of the Son of Man that he will suffer much and be refused? Why, I tell you, not only has Elijah come, but people have treated him just as they pleased, as the Scripture says about him."

It was about eight days after Jesus said this that he took Peter, John, and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And as he was praying, the look of his face changed and his clothes turned dazzling white. And two men were talking with him. They were Moses and Elijah, read more.
and they appeared in glory and spoke of his departure which he was to go through with at Jerusalem. Just as they were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, "Master, how good it is that we are here! Let us put up three huts, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah!" For he did not know what he was saying. But as he said it, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were frightened as they passed under the cloud. And from the cloud came a voice that said, "This is my Son, my Chosen! Listen to him!" At the sound of the voice, they saw that Jesus was alone. And they kept silence, and said nothing about it to anyone at that time.
