And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come? And Jesus having answered, said to them, Elias truly comes first and will re-establish all things. And I say to you, That Elias has already come, and they knew him not, but did by him whatever they would. So also the Son of man is about to suffer by them.

And he having answered, said to them, Elias truly having first come, restores all things; and how it has been written of the Son of man, that he suffer many things; and be set at nought. And they having been sent were of the Pharisees. And they asked him, and said to him, Why immersest thou then, if thou art not Christ, neither Elias, neither a prophet?

And Jesus, having come into the parts of Caesarea of Philippi, asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say me to be, the Son of Man? And they said, Some, truly, John the Baptist: and others, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. And he says to them, But whom say ye me to be?
