And they sent unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, that they might entrap him in discourse.
Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel together how they might lay a snare to entrap him in his discourse. And they sent to him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God with veracity; and carest for no man, for thou regardest not the person of men: tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to pay tribute to Caesar, or not?

IF ye then be risen with Christ, seek the things which are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Fix your minds on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

So when he had said this, a great dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided. For the Sadducees say indeed, that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.

But concerning the dead, that they do rise; have ye not read in the book of Moses, how God spake to him at the bush, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. Ye are therefore vastly erroneous.
