On the same day the Sadducees came to him, who say, that there is no resurrection, and they put a question to him,
But the Pharisees hearing that he had stopped the Sadducees' mouths, they assembled together:
AND as they were thus speaking, the priests, and the captain of the temple-guard, and the Sadducees, came upon them,
Then arose the high-priest, and all those who were connected with him, (which was the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with zeal,
For the Sadducees say indeed, that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.
And they sent to him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God with veracity; and carest for no man, for thou regardest not the person of men:
And the Pharisees instantly going out, held a council with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
And they sent unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, that they might entrap him in discourse.
