And all the people that heard him and the publicans justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.
And they asked him and said unto him, Why dost thou baptize then if thou art not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet? John answered them, saying, I baptize with water, but there stands one among you, whom ye know not;
And I knew him not; but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
And I knew him not; but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on him, the same is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.
And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim because there was much water there, and they came and were baptized.
and went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized, and there he abode.

Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him and would have killed him, but she could not; for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just and holy man, and respected him; and when he heard him, he did many things and heard him gladly. read more.

Since the world began it has not been heard of that anyone opened the eyes of one that was born blind. If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
