And they come to him, bringing one that was palsied, borne by four men. But there were some of the scribes sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man speak thus? He blasphemeth; who can forgive sins but God only? And Jesus immediately perceiving in his spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, saith to them, Why do ye reason thus in your hearts? Which is easier? to say to the palsied man, Thy sins are forgiven? or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed and go? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins,he saith to the palsied man, I say to thee, Arise, take up thy bed and go to thy house. And he arose, and immediately took up the bed and went forth before them all; so that they were all amazed, and gave glory to God, saying, We never saw it thus.
