Some spoke of how wonderful the temple was. How it was adorned with beautiful stones and offerings, Jesus replied: Concerning these things you see, the days will come, in which there shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. Do not think about what you will say before it happens. I will give you ability to talk and words of wisdom, which your adversaries shall not be able to resist or refute. Parent, brothers and sisters and friends will turn you over and cause you to be put to death. Men will hate you because of my name. Yet not a hair of your head will perish.

As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so the Son of man must also be lifted up. Everyone who has an active faith in him may have everlasting life. For God loved the world so much, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever has an active faith in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For the preaching of the stake is foolishness to those who perish. It is the power of God to us who are saved. It is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. (Isaiah 29:14) Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? read more.
This is the wisdom of God that the world through its wisdom did not come to know God. God was well pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. Indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom. We preach Christ impaled. It is a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the nations! To those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, it is Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
