For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but had been made eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when such a voice as this was borne to him from the excellent glory: "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased." And this voice we heard borne from heaven when we were with him in the holy mount.

And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John his brother, and leadeth them up into a high mountain apart. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone as the sun; and his garments became white as the light. And lo! there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. read more.
And Peter answering said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here; if thou wilt, I will make here three tents; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.

And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter and James and John, and leadeth them up into a high mountain apart by themselves; and he was transfigured before them. And his garments became glistening, very white, so as no fuller on earth can whiten. And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus. read more.
And Peter answering saith to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tents, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah. For he knew not what to answer; for they were struck with terror.

And it came to pass about eight days after this discourse, that he took with him Peter and John and James, and went up into the mountain to pray. And while he was praying, the appearance of his countenance was changed, and his raiment became white and glistening. And lo! two men were talking with him, who were Moses and Elijah; read more.

But when they awoke, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. And it came to pass as they were parting from him, that Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tents, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah; not knowing what he said.

Then Jesus cometh with them to a place called Gethsemane, and saith to the disciples, Sit here, while I go yonder and pray. And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to he sorrowful and full of anguish. Then he saith to them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me. read more.
And he came a little nearer, and fell on his face, praying and saying, Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me! nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou wilt. And he cometh to the disciples, and findeth them sleeping, and saith to Peter, Is it so that ye could not watch with me one hour? Watch, and pray that ye enter not into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Again he went away a second time, and prayed, saying, My Father, if this [cup] cannot pass away from me, but I must drink it, thy will be done! And coming again he found them sleeping; for their eyes were heavy. And leaving them, he went away again, and prayed the third time, saying again the same words. Then he cometh to the disciples, and saith to them, Sleep on, and take your rest! Lo! the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is delivered up into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going; lo! he is at hand that delivereth me up.

And he taketh with him Peter and James and John; and began to be in great consternation and anguish. And he saith to them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death; remain here and watch. And going on a little farther, he fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it was possible, the hour might pass from him. read more.
And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to thee! take away this cup from me. But not what I will, but what thou wilt. And he cometh and findeth them sleeping; and he saith to Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? Couldst not thou watch one hour? Watch, and pray that ye enter not into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. And again he went away and prayed, saying the same words. And returning, he found them again sleeping, for their eyes were heavy; and they knew not what to answer him. And he cometh the third time, and saith to them, Sleep on, and take your rest! It is enough! the hour is come: lo! the Son of man is delivered up into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going; lo! he that delivereth me up is at hand.

And when he was at the place, he said to them, Pray that ye may not enter into temptation. And he withdrew from them about a stones throw; and kneeling down he prayed, saying, Father, if thou art willing to remove this cup from meyet not my will, but thine be done! read more.
And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony, he prayed more earnestly. And his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling to the ground. And rising up from prayer, he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping for sorrow, and said to them, Why sleep ye? Rise, and pray that ye may not enter into temptation.
