And the highpriest arose, and said to him, Dost thou make no answer to what these men testify against thee? But Jesus was silent. And the highpriest answering said to him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus saith to him, I am. Then the highpriest rent his garments, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? See! ye have now heard the blasphemy. What think ye? They answered and said, He should be punished with death.
