And a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, Ye know nothing at all, nor do ye consider that it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and not the whole nation should perish. Now he said this not from himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation.
Now Caiaphas was the man who counseled the Jews that it was expedient for one man to die on behalf of the people.
