For forty years I was grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people who go astray in their hearts, and they have not known My ways;

Our fathers did not understand Your wonders in Egypt; they did not remember the multitude of Your mercies, but rebelled at the sea, even at the Red Sea. But He saved them for His name's sake, to make His mighty power known. And He rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up; so He led them through the depths, as through the wilderness. read more.
And He saved them from the hand of the hater, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. And the waters covered their enemies; there was not one of them left. Then they believed His Words; they sang His praise. They hurried and forgot His works; they did not wait for His counsel; but they lusted greedily in the wilderness, and tested God in the desert. And He gave them what they asked, but sent leanness into their soul. And they were jealous of Moses in the camp, and Aaron the saint of Jehovah. The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram. And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked. They made a calf in Horeb, and worshiped the melted image. And they changed their Glory into the likeness of an ox that eats grass. They forgot God their Deliverer, who had done great things in Egypt; wonderful works in the land of Ham, fearful things by the Red Sea. And He said that He would destroy them, if Moses His chosen had not stood before Him in the breach, to turn away His wrath, so that He should not destroy them. And they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe His Word, but murmured in their tents, and did not listen to the voice of Jehovah. And He lifted up His hand to them, to overthrow them in the wilderness; to overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands. And they joined themselves to Baal-peor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead, and provoked Him to anger with their doings; and the plague broke in on them. Then Phinehas stood and interceded, and the plague was stayed. And it was counted to him for righteousness to all generations forevermore. And they angered Him at the waters of strife so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes; because they provoked his spirit so that he spoke rashly with his lips. They did not destroy the nations as Jehovah commanded them; but were mixed among the nations, and learned their works. And they served their idols, which were a snare to them. Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons, and shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was defiled with blood. And they were defiled with their works, and went lusting in their doings.

For the sons of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, until all the people, the men of war, who came out of Egypt, were destroyed, because they did not obey the voice of Jehovah. To them Jehovah swore that He would not show them the land which Jehovah swore to their fathers that He would give us, a land that flows with milk and honey.

But you would not go up, but rebelled against the command of Jehovah your God.

And all the congregation lifted up their voice and cried. And the people wept that night. And all the sons of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron. And the whole congregation said to them, Oh that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or, Oh that we had died in the wilderness! And why has Jehovah brought us into this land to fall by the sword, so that our wives and our sons should be a prey? Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt? read more.
And they said to one another, Let us make a leader, and let us return to Egypt. And Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the sons of Israel. And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, of those that searched the land, tore their clothes. And they spoke to all the company of the sons of Israel saying, The land which we passed through to search is an exceedingly good land. If Jehovah delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, a land which flows with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against Jehovah, neither fear the people of the land. For they are bread for us. Their protection has moved from them, and Jehovah is with us. Do not fear them. But all the congregation said to stone them with stones. And the glory of Jehovah appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the sons of Israel.

And they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe His Word, but murmured in their tents, and did not listen to the voice of Jehovah.

And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which became very great, toward the south and toward the east and toward the bountiful land.

And the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up an evil report upon the land, even those men that brought up the evil report upon the land died by the plague before Jehovah.

to overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.

I am Jehovah your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from being their bondmen. And I have broken the bonds of your yoke, and made you go upright. But if you will not listen to Me, and will not do all these commandments, and if you shall despise My statutes, or if your soul hates My judgments, so that you will not do all My commandments, so that you break My covenant; read more.
I will also do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, consumption, and burning fever, consuming the eyes and causing sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. And I will set My face against you, and you shall be slain before your enemies. They that hate you shall reign over you. And you shall flee when none pursues you. And if you will not yet listen to Me for all this, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. And I will break the pride of your power, and I will make your heaven like iron and your earth like bronze. And your strength shall be spent in vain. For your land shall not yield its increase, neither shall the trees of the field yield their fruits. And if you walk contrary to Me, and will not listen to Me, I will bring seven times more plagues on you according to your sins. I will also send wild beasts among you, who shall bereave you. And I will destroy your cattle, and make you few. And your highways shall be deserted.

If you will not observe to do all the words of this Law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and fearful name, JEHOVAH YOUR GOD, then Jehovah will make your plagues remarkable, and the plagues of your seed great and persistent plagues; with evil and long-lasting sicknesses. Also, He will bring on you all the diseases of Egypt of which you were afraid. And they shall cling to you. read more.
Also, every sickness and every plague which is not written in the book of this Law, Jehovah will bring them on you until you are destroyed. And you shall be left few in number, whereas you were as the stars of the heavens for multitude, because you would not obey the voice of Jehovah your God.

And after these things I saw another angel come down from Heaven, having great authority. And the earth was lighted up from his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great has fallen, has fallen! And it has become the dwelling-place of demons, and a prison of every unclean spirit, and a cage of every unclean bird which has been hated, because of the wine of the anger of her fornication which all the nations have drunk. And the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her. And the merchants of the earth became rich from the power of her luxury. read more.
And I heard another voice from Heaven, saying, Come out of her, My people, that you may not be partakers of her sins, and that you may not receive of her plagues. For her sins joined together, even up to Heaven, and God has remembered her unjust deeds. Reward her as she has rewarded you, and double to her double, according to her works. In the cup which she mixed, mix double to her. As much as she has glorified herself and has lived in luxury, so much torment and sorrow give her. For she says in her heart, I sit as a queen, and I am not a widow; and I do not see mourning at all. Therefore her plagues will come in one day, death and mourning and famine. And she will be consumed with fire, for the Lord God who judges her is strong.

For I testify together to everyone who hears the Words of the prophecy of this Book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add on him the plagues that have been written in this Book.

And they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe His Word, but murmured in their tents, and did not listen to the voice of Jehovah.

And when Jehovah sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying: Go up and possess the land which I have given you, then you rebelled against the commandment of Jehovah your God, and you did not believe Him, nor listened to His voice.

Then the disciples came to Jesus apart, and said, Why could we not cast him out? And Jesus said to them, Because of your unbelief. For truly I say to you, If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Move from here to there. And it shall move. And nothing shall be impossible to you.

And Jehovah testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, by all the seers, saying, Turn from your evil ways and keep My commandments, My statutes, according to all the Law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by My servants the prophets. But they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like the neck of their fathers who did not believe in Jehovah their God. And they rejected His statutes and His covenant which He made with their fathers, and His testimonies which He testified against them. And they went after the vain thing, and became vain, and after the nations around them, concerning whom Jehovah had charged them not to do like them. read more.
And they left all the commandments of Jehovah their God, and made molten images, two calves, for themselves. And they made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire. And they used divination and incantations, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke Him to anger. So Jehovah was very angry with Israel, and turned them away from His face; not one was left, only the tribe of Judah by itself. Also Judah did not keep the commandments of Jehovah their God, but walked in the statutes which Israel made. And Jehovah rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until He had cast them out of His sight. For He tore Israel from the house of David. And they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king. And Jeroboam drove Israel away from following Jehovah, and made them sin a great sin. For the sons of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did. They did not depart from them until Jehovah turned away Israel from His face, as He had said by all His servants the prophets. So Israel was carried away out of their own land to Assyria until this day.

And they sinned still more against Him, by provoking the Most High in the wilderness. And they tempted God in their heart by asking food for their lust. And they spoke against God; they said, Can God set a table in the wilderness? read more.
Behold! He struck the rock so that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed. Can He also give bread? Can He provide flesh for His people? Therefore Jehovah heard, and was made furious; so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel, because they did not believe in God, and did not trust in His salvation; though He had commanded the clouds from above, and had opened the doors of the heavens; and had rained down manna on them to eat, and He gave them of the grain of the heavens. Man ate the food of the mighty; He sent them meat to the full. He caused an east wind to blow in the sky; and by His power He brought in the south wind. and He also rained flesh on them like dust, and winged birds like the sand of the sea; and He let them fall in the middle of their camp, all around their tents. So they ate, and were filled to the full; for He gave them their own desire. They were not turned away from their lust, but while their food was still in their mouths, the wrath of God came on them and killed the fattest of them, and struck down the chosen of Israel. For all this they still sinned, and did not believe because of His wonderful works. Therefore He ended their days in vanity and their years in trouble. When He killed them, then they looked for Him; and they turned back and sought after God.

Well, because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be high-minded, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, fear lest He also may not spare you either!
