Psalm 2:1

Why do the nations conspire together and rage? Why do the peoples plot in vain?

Psalm 2:2

The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against Jehovah and against his Anointed One.

Psalm 2:3

They say: Let us break their chains of control and throw off their oppressive rule.

Psalm 2:4

The One who dwells in heaven laughs. Jehovah scoffs at them.

Psalm 2:5

Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his rage (fury). He says:

Psalm 2:6

I have installed (anointed) (established) my king on Zion, my holy mountain.

Psalm 2:7

I will proclaim the decree of Jehovah: He said to me: You are my Son. Today I have become your Father. (I have begotten you.)

Psalm 2:8

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.

Psalm 2:9

You will rule them with an iron scepter. You will dash them to pieces like pottery!

Psalm 2:10

Listen you kings, be wise (show discernment) and be warned you rulers of the earth.

Psalm 2:11

Serve Jehovah with deep respect and rejoice with trembling.

Psalm 2:12

Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed (happy) are all who take refuge (put trust) in him.
