And they brought unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they besought him to put his hand upon him.

But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that opens not his mouth.


And David said, What have I now done? Is it not a word?

Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah unto the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? let me go over, I pray you, and take off his head. And the king said, What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah? so let him curse, because the LORD has said unto him, Curse David. Who shall then say, Why have you done so? It may be that the LORD will look on my affliction, and that the LORD will repay me good for his cursing this day. And as David and his men went by the way, Shimei went along on the hill's side opposite him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust. And the king, and all the people that were with him, became weary, and refreshed themselves there.
