I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: restore me, and I shall return; for you are the LORD my God.
Restore us, O God of hosts, and cause your face to shine; and we shall be saved.
Restore us, O God of our salvation, and cause your anger toward us to cease. Will you be angry with us forever? will you draw out your anger to all generations? Will you not revive us again: that your people may rejoice in you?

Shall the women eat their offspring, the children of their tender care? shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?
