At the end of ten days their faces appeared better and fatter than all the youths who ate of the king's royal food.

Why shouldn't my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' tombs, lies waste, and its gates have been consumed with fire?"
Sorrow is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the face the heart is made good.
