A fool's lips are ever brawling, and his mouth provoketh unto battle. A fool's mouth is his own destruction, and his lips are the snare for his own soul.

And the angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim and said, "I brought you out of Egypt and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers. And I said that I would never break my covenant with you, but ye should have made no covenant with the inhabiters of this land, ye should have broken down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice. Why have ye this done? Wherefore I have likewise determined that I will not cast them out before you: that they may be a fall unto you, and their gods shall be snares unto you."

but were mingled among the Heathen, and learned their works - insomuch that they worshipped their idols, which turned to their own decay.

And I will make thy coasts from the reed sea unto the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert unto the river. I will deliver the inhabiters of the land into thine hand, and thou shalt drive them out before thee. And thou shalt make none covenant with them nor with their gods. Neither shall they dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be thy decay."

Keep all that I command thee this day, and behold: I will cast out before thee the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. Take heed to thyself, that thou make no covenant with the inhabiters of the land whither thou goest lest it be cause of ruin among you.

Take good heed therefore unto your souls, that ye love the LORD your God. But and if ye shall go back and cleave unto the rest of these nations that remain with you and shall make marriages with them, and shall go to them and they come to you: be sure that the LORD your God will not cast out all these nations before you. But they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges for your sides, and pricks in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.

Make no friendship with an angry willful man, and keep no company with the furious; lest thou learn his ways, and receive hurt unto thy soul.

Whoso flattereth his neighbour, layeth a net for his feet. The sin of the wicked is his own snare, but the righteous shall be glad and rejoice.

For among my people are found wicked persons, that privily lay snares and wait for me, to take them and destroy them. And like as a net is full of birds, so are their houses full of that which they have gotten with falsity and deceit. Hereof cometh their great substance and riches, hereof are they fat and wealthy, and are run away from me with shameful blasphemies. They minister not the law, they make no end of the fatherless cause, they judge not the poor according to equity.

Shall not the light of the ungodly be put out? Yea, the flame of his fire shall not burn. The light shall be dark in his dwelling, and his candle shall be put out with him. His presumptuous goings shall be kept in, and his own counsel shall cast him down. read more.
For his feet shall be taken in the net, and he is at his wits end. His foot shall be holden in the gilder, and the thirsty shall catch him. The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a pitfall in the way.

When the LORD thy God hath destroyed the nations before thee, whither thou goest to conquer them, and when thou hast conquered them, and dwelt in their lands: Beware that thou be not taken in a snare after them, after that they be destroyed before thee, and that thou ask not after their gods saying, 'How did these nations serve their gods, that I may do so likewise?'

And Moab shall be made so desolate, that she shall no more be a people, because she hath set up herself against the LORD. Fear, pit, and snare shall come upon thee, O Moab, sayeth the LORD.
