Thematic Bible: Surveying

Thematic Bible

And I arose in the night, I and some few men with me; neither told I any man what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem: neither was there any animal with me, except the animal that I rode upon. And I went out by night by the gate of the valley, even to the jackal's well, and to the refuse gate, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down; and the gates thereof were consumed with fire. Then I went on to the gate of the fountain, and to the king's pool: but there was no place for the animal that was under me to pass. read more.
Then went I up in the night by the valley, and viewed the wall, and turned back, and entered by the gate of the valley, and so returned. Pick out from among you three men from each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and survey it according to their inheritance; and they shall come again to me. And they shall divide it into seven parts: Judah shall continue in their territory on the south, and the house of Joseph shall continue in their territory on the north. You shall therefore survey the land into seven parts, and bring the description here to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the LORD our God. read more.
But the Levites have no part among you; for the priesthood of the LORD is their inheritance: and Gad, and Reuben, and the half the tribe of Manasseh, have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan on the east, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave them. And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to survey the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and survey it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the LORD in Shiloh. And the men went and passed through the land, and surveyed it by cities into seven parts in a book, and came again to Joshua to the host at Shiloh.

And behold a wall on the outside of the house round about, and in the man's hand a measuring rod of six cubits long by the cubit and a handbreadth: so he measured the width of the building, one rod; and the height, one rod. Then came he unto the gate which looks toward the east, and went up its stairs, and measured the threshold of the gate, which was one rod wide; and the other threshold of the gate, which was one rod wide.
