It shall have the two shoulder-pieces of it joined at the two edges of it. And so it shall be joined together.

With the work of an engraver in stone, like the engravings of a signet, you shall engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Israel. And they made stones of onyx set in plaited work of gold, engraved as signets are engraved, with the names of the sons of Israel. And he put them on the shoulders of the ephod, stones for a memorial to the sons of Israel, even as Jehovah commanded Moses.
