So now, listen to this, O one who lives so lavishly, who lives securely, who says to herself, 'I am unique! No one can compare to me! I will never have to live as a widow; I will never lose my children.'
So let the one who thinks he is standing be careful that he does not fall.
Your presumptuous heart has deceived you -- you who reside in the safety of the rocky cliffs, whose home is high in the mountains. You think to yourself, 'No one can bring me down to the ground!'
The one who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but the one who walks in wisdom will escape.
But you have plowed wickedness; you have reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of deception. Because you have depended on your chariots; you have relied on your many warriors.
Jesus also told this parable to some who were confident that they were righteous and looked down on everyone else.
