Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O Jehovah, And that a foolish people hath blasphemed thy name.

Now therefore, what do I here, saith Jehovah, seeing that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them do howl, saith Jehovah, and my name continually all the day is blasphemed.


And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, for no man buyeth their merchandise any more;

And a strong angel took up a stone as it were a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with a mighty fall shall Babylon, the great city, be cast down, and shall be found no more at all.


Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand. Belshazzar, while he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king and his lords, his wives and his concubines, might drink therefrom. They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.



These are they who are hidden rocks in your love-feasts when they feast with you, shepherds that without fear feed themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn leaves without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;


They are all grievous revolters, going about with slanders; they are brass and iron: they all of them deal corruptly.

Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; Thou slanderest thine own mother's son.

Take ye heed every one of his neighbor, and trust ye not in any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go about with slanders.
