Truly my house is not so with God. Yet he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure. For it is all my salvation, and all [my] desire, though he does not make it to grow.

And I will beat down his adversaries before him, and smite those who hate him, but my faithfulness and my loving kindness shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted. I will also set his hand on the sea, and his right hand on the rivers. He shall cry to me, Thou are my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. I also will make him first-born, the highest of the kings of the earth. I will keep my loving kindness for him for evermore. And my covenant shall stand fast with him. I will also make his seed to endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven. If his sons forsake my law, and walk not in my ordinances, if they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments, then I will visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes, but my loving kindness I will not utterly take from him, nor allow my faithfulness to fail. I will not break my covenant, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. I have sworn once by my holiness; I will not lie to David. His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before me. It shall be established forever as the moon, and [as] the faithful witness in the sky. Selah.

then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he shall not have a son to reign upon his throne, and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.
