When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw him they cried out saying, Crucify, crucify him. Pilate says to them, Take him ye and crucify him, for I find no fault in him.
And when he was accused of the chief priests and the elders, he answered nothing. Then says Pilate to him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee? And he answered him not so much as one word, so that the governor wondered exceedingly.
And the superscription of what he was accused of was written up: The King of the Jews.
And there was also an inscription written over him in Greek, and Roman, and Hebrew letters: This is the King of the Jews.
And Pilate wrote a title also and put it on the cross. But there was written: Jesus the Nazaraean, the King of the Jews. This title therefore many of the Jews read, for the place of the city where Jesus was crucified was near; and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, Latin. The chief priests of the Jews therefore said to Pilate, Do not write, The king of the Jews, but that he said, I am king of the Jews.read more.
Pilate answered, What I have written, I have written.
And Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, I find no guilt in this man.
Pilate therefore went out to them and said, What accusation do ye bring against this man?
And Pilate went out again and says to them, Lo, I bring him out to you, that ye may know that I find in him no fault whatever.
