You search the Scriptures, because in them you think that you have eternal life; and these are they that testify of me. Yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.

From this time many of his disciples went back and no longer walked with him.

He came to his own, and his own did not receive him. But to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
