They rejected my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that had grown up with him, and who stood before him:

But ye have set at naught all my counsel, and rejected my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.

Nevertheless, the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship more than the things which were spoken by Paul.

Better is a poor and a wise child, than an old and foolish king, who will no more be admonished.

Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, If I declare it to thee, wilt thou not surely put me to death? and if I give thee counsel, wilt thou not hearken to me?

And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
