And He spake this parable, A certain man had a fig-tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it, but found none. And he said to the vine-dresser, behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig-tree, and find none: cut it down, why should it cumber the ground? And he said to him, Sir, let it alone this year also, till I dig about it, and lay dung to it:read more.
then perhaps it may bear fruit; if not, afterwards cut it down.

But if some of the branches were broken off, and thou a wild-olive wert grafted in among them, and art made a partaker together with them of the root and fatness of the olive; boast not against the branches: and if thou boastest, remember thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. Wilt thou say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in?

I have planted, Apollos watered: but God gave the increase. So that neither he that planteth is any thing, nor he that watereth, but God that giveth the increase. And he that planteth, and he that watereth, are as one: but each shall receive his own reward according to his own labor.
