And Saul arose and went down to the wilderness of Ziph to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him. And David sent out spies and knew that Saul had come indeed. And David arose and came to the place where Saul had pitched. And David saw the place where Saul lay. And Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his army, and Saul were lying within the barricade. And the people pitched all around him. And David answered and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, the brother of Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to the camp to Saul? And please let me strike him with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not repeat it to him. And David said to Abishai, Do not destroy him. For who can stretch forth his hand against Jehovah's anointed and be guiltless? And David said, As Jehovah lives, except Jehovah strike him, or his day shall come, and he dies, or he goes down to battle and is consumed, far be it from me by Jehovah, from putting forth my hand against Jehovah's anointed. And now, please take the spear at his head and the cruse of water, and we will go.

You see to it. Then all the people answered and said, Let His blood be on us and on our children. Then he released Barabbas to them. And when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.
And there was one named Barabbas, bound with the insurgents, who had committed murder in the insurrection. And the crowd, crying aloud, began to beg him to do as he had always done to them. But Pilate answered them, saying, Do you desire that I release to you the King of the Jews?read more.
For he knew that the chief priests had delivered Him because of envy. But the chief priests moved the people that he should rather release Barabbas to them. And Pilate answered and said again to them, What then do you desire that I should do to him whom you call the King of the Jews? And they cried out again, Crucify him! Then Pilate said to them, Why? What evil has he done? And they much more cried out, Crucify him! And deciding to do the easiest to the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them, and having scourged Him, delivered up Jesus to be crucified.
