One of the men with Jesus put out his hand and drew his sword, and striking at the high priest's slave, cut his ear off. Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back where it belongs! For all who draw the sword will die by the sword.
But one of the bystanders drew his sword and struck at the high priest's slave and cut his ear off.
Those who were about him saw what was coming and said, "Master, shall we use our swords?" And one of them did strike at the high priest's slave and cut his right ear off. But Jesus answered, "Let me do this much!" And he touched his ear and healed him.
Then Simon Peter, who had a sword with him, drew it and struck at the high priest's slave and cut off his right ear. The slave's name was Malchus. Then Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword back into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which the Father has offered me?"
