And because wickedness will increase, the love of most will grow cold.

Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith by giving heed to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, through the pretensions of liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron, who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires, and will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
