He hath wrought mightily with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the device of their heart.

The God of this people chose our fathers, and he exalted the people in their sojourn in the land of Egypt, and with a high arm he brought them out of it;

that what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, "Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?"
