(And while he was sitting on the tribunal, his wife sent to him, saying, Have nothing to do with that righteous man: for I have suffered much in a dream to day on his account.) And they all cried out, saying, Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas: (who for a riot in the city, and for murder, was committed to prison:) Pilate therefore spake to them again, being desirous to release Jesus. read more.
But they bawled out, saying, Crucify Him, crucify Him. And he said to them a third time, what evil hath He done? I have found nothing in Him deserving death: I will therefore chastise Him, and let Him go. But they insisted upon it with loud clamours, demanding Him to be crucified: and their voices and those of the chief priests prevailed. So Pilate gave sentence that what they demanded should be done. And he released to them him that for sedition and murder had been cast into prison, whom they desired; and delivered up Jesus to their will.
