But the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from land, but about a hundred yards off. When they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, with fish lying on it, and bread.

And when our days there were ended, we left and started on our journey, while they all, with wives and children, brought us on our way until we were out of the city. After kneeling down on the beach and praying, we said farewell to one another.

When day came, they could not recognize the land, but they did observe a bay with a beach, and they resolved to drive the ship onto it if they could. When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, "No doubt this man is a murderer. Though he has escaped from the sea, justice has not allowed him to live." However he shook the creature off into the fire and suffered no harm. They waited, expecting him to swell up or suddenly fall down dead; but after they had waited a long time and saw nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.
