But beware of men. For they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;
But do ye take heed to yourselves; they will deliver you up to councils, and ye will be taken into synagogues and beaten; and ye will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them.
Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; some of them ye will kill and crucify, and some of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city;
in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in watchings, in fastings;
and others had trial of mockings and scourgings, and also of bonds and imprisonment;
And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned, and beat in every synagogue, those that believed in thee;
And the highpriest, Ananias, commanded those who stood by him to smite him on the mouth. Then Paul said to him, God will smite thee, thou whited wall! Art thou then sitting to judge me according to the law, and dost thou command me to be smitten contrary to the law?
And they were persuaded by him; and having called the apostles, they beat them, and commanded them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and released them.
But Paul said to them, They have publicly beaten us uncondemned, although we are Romans, and have thrust us into prison; and now do they thrust us out secretly? No; but let them come themselves, and bring us out.
But they all laid hold of Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgmentseat; and Gallio cared for none of these things.
who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down to them. And seeing the chief captain and the soldiers, they left off beating Paul.
Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as beside myself,) I am more; in labors more abundantly, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often;
thrice I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have spent in the deep;
Even to this very hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace,
