11 Bible Verses about Building Houses

By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established;

Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORDwatches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

lest, when you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and live in them,

"Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his upper rooms by injustice, who makes his neighbor serve him for nothing and does not give him his wages, who says, 'I will build myself a great house with spacious upper rooms,' who cuts out windows for it, paneling it with cedar and painting it with vermilion.

You looked for much, and behold, it came to little. And when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why? declares the LORD of hosts. Because of my house that lies in ruins, while each of you busies himself with his own house.

"Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins?

Therefore because you trample on the poor and you exact taxes of grain from him, you have built houses of hewn stone, but you shall not dwell in them; you have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine.

Then the king sent and summoned Shimei and said to him, "Build yourself a house in Jerusalem and dwell there, and do not go out from there to any place whatever.

He said to me, "To the land of Shinar, to build a house for it. And when this is prepared, they will set the basket down there on its base."

For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses--as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself.
