15 Bible Verses about Children, responsibilities to parents

A foolish son brings grief to his father, and bitterness to her who bore him.

His sons did not walk in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted justice.

He who becomes the father of a fool grieves. The father of a fool has no joy.

A foolish son is the calamity of his father. A wife's quarrels are a continual dripping.

Whoever keeps the Law is a wise son; but he who is a companion of gluttons shames his father.

The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a child left to himself causes shame to his mother.

"Anyone who attacks his father or his mother shall be surely put to death.

"'For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death: he has cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.

If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, who will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and, though they chasten him, will not listen to them; then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out to the elders of his city, and to the gate of his place; and they shall tell the elders of his city, "This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard."read more.
All the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones: so you shall put away the evil from the midst of you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

"The eye that mocks at his father, and scorns obedience to his mother: the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, the young eagles shall eat it.

For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me, and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

'The LORD is slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, forgiving iniquity and disobedience; and that will by no means clear [the guilty], visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation.'

"In those days they shall say no more, 'The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge.' But everyone shall die for his own iniquity: every man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge.
