He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice, or make it heard in the street;
He will not quarrel or cry aloud, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets;
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.
Now the passage of the Scripture that he was reading was this: "Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter and like a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he opens not his mouth.
But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, "Send her away, for she is crying out after us."
But Jesus remained silent. And the high priest said to him, "I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God."
But when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he gave no answer.
But he gave him no answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed.
But he remained silent and made no answer. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?"
He entered his headquarters again and said to Jesus, "Where are you from?" But Jesus gave him no answer.
I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me,
So Pilate said to him, "You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?"
