And beginning from Moses, and all the prophets, he explained to them, in all the Scriptures, the things concerning himself.

But he answered and said: It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.

You have heard that it was said to the ancients: You shall not kill; and whoever shall kill, shall be liable to the sentence of the judges.

But he said to them: Have you not read what David did, when he and those who were with him were hungry? how he entered the house of God, and ate the loaves of the presence, which it was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but for the priests only? Or, have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath-days the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless?read more.
But I say to you, that something greater than the temple is here. But if you had known what this means I desire mercy, and not sacrifice you would not have condemned the blameless.

Jesus answered and said to them: You err, because you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. But, concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying:read more.
I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

And Jesus answered and said to them: Do you not err for this reason, because you know not the scriptures, nor the power of God? For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels in heaven. But concerning the dead, that they do rise, have you not read in the book of Moses, at The Bush, how God spoke to him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?read more.

And Jesus answered and said to them: The children of this age marry, and are given in marriage. But those who shall be accounted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage.
