they asked Him, if it were lawful to heal on the sabbath-days? that they might accuse Him.

But the ruler of the synagogue, being provoked that Jesus had wrought a cure on the sabbath-day, said to the people, There are six days in which ye ought to work; on these therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath-day.

And when He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath-day, there was a woman that had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and utterly unable to lift herself upright. And when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him, and said to her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.read more.
And He laid his hands upon her; and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. The Lord therefore answered him and said, Thou hypocrite, does not any of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall and lead him away to watering? And might not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath-day? Upon his saying this, all his adversaries were ashamed: but the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him.

But He said unto them, What man of you shall have one of his sheep fall into a pit on the sabbath-day, and will not lay hold of it and lift it out?

And the scribes and pharisees watched Him to see if He would work a cure on the sabbath: that they might find an accusation against Him.

And when the pharisees saw it they said to Him, See, thy disciples are doing what is not lawful for them to do on the sabbath.

and said unto them, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fall into a pit, and will not immediately draw him out even on the sabbath-day?

Then said some of the pharisees, This man is not of God, because He doth not keep the sabbath: but others said, How can a wicked man do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

And He said to the man, that had the withered hand, Rise up into the midst:
