And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were fulfilled, they brought Him to Jerusalem to present Him before the Lord: (as it is written in the law of the Lord, That every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord:) and to offer a sacrifice, according to what is required in the law of the Lord, a pair of turtle-doves or two young pigeons.

And there came to Him a leper, beseeching Him, and kneeling down to Him, and saying unto Him, If thou wilt, thou canst cleanse me: and Jesus, being moved with compassion, stretched out his hand and touched him, and saith unto Him, I will; be thou healed: and as soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was healed.read more.
And he gave him a strict charge, and immediately dismissed him, and saith unto him, See thou tell no man: but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy purification what Moses has commanded, for a testimony to them.

that they abstain from the pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from what is strangled, and from blood.

And when the pharisees saw it they said to Him, See, thy disciples are doing what is not lawful for them to do on the sabbath.

And the pharisees said to Him, See, why do they what is not lawful to be done on the sabbath-day?

And some of the pharisees said to them, Why do ye do that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath-days?

For circumcision indeed is profitable, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a transgressor of the law, thy circumcision is become uncircumcision.

And Jesus replied, Are ye also still void of understanding? Do ye not yet know, that whatever goeth into the mouth passeth to the belly and is discharged downwards? But the things, which proceed out of the mouth, come from the heart, and those defile a man.read more.
For out of the heart proceed wicked disputings, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false-witnessings, slanders: these defile a man, but to eat without washing the hands doth not defile him.

And He saith unto them, Are ye so void of understanding also? Do ye not know, that whatsoever from without entreth into a man cannot defile him? because it entreth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all his food. for out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murthers, thefts, avarice, malice, deceit, lasciviousness, envy, slander, pride, folly; all these evils come from within and defile the man.

Wo unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites; for ye clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within they are full of rapine and intemperance:

nor is that circumcision, which is only in appearance, in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart in the spirit, not in the letter: whose praise is not from men, but from God.

Whereas in these very sacrifices there is a recalling of sins to mind every year.
