And in stories, by way of comparison, He told them many things, as He continued to speak: "A sower went out to sow,

He continued teaching them by many stories. In His teaching He spoke to them as follows:

Then He said to them, "To you the secret of the kingdom of God has been entrusted, but to those who are on the outside everything is presented in stories, so that

"I have told you these things in allegories, but a time is coming when I shall not do so any longer, but will plainly tell you about the Father.

Jesus told them this allegory, but they did not understand what He meant by it.

When Jesus had finished these stories, He left there.

Then He kept on saying: "How can I further picture the kingdom of God, or by what story can I illustrate it?

Then Peter said to Him, "Explain the maxim for us."

When He was by Himself, those who stayed about Him with the Twelve began to ask Him about the stories.

Then He said to them: "If you do not understand this story, how, indeed, can you understand any of my stories?

Peter said to Him, "Lord, do you mean this story for us, or is it for everybody?"

When the high priests and the Pharisees heard His stories, they knew that He was speaking about them,

Then they were trying to have Him arrested, but they were afraid of the people, for they knew that He aimed this story at them. And so they left Him and went away.

Then the scribes and the high priests tried to arrest Him at that very hour, but they were afraid of the people, for they knew that He meant this story for them.
