Now, let us go down and there confound their language that they may not understand one another's speech.

So the LORD scattered them abroad from there upon the face of all the earth, and they left off to build the city. Therefore the name of it was called Babel because there the LORD confounded the language of all the earth, and from there the LORD scattered them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

Now at this sound, the multitude came together and were confounded because each one heard them speak in his own tongue.

Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues, for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

If, therefore, the whole congregation is come together into one place and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
