When you go to war against your enemies, you may see horses, chariots, and armies larger than yours. Do not be afraid of them for Jehovah your God, who brought you out of Egypt, will be with you.
([Psalm of David]) O Jehovah, look how my enemies have increased! Many are attacking me.
In peace he will rescue me from the war waged against me. There are many against me.

The women who celebrated sang: Saul has defeated thousands but David tens of thousands! Saul became very angry because he considered this saying to be insulting. He said: To David they credit tens of thousands but to me they credit only a few thousand. The only thing left for David is my kingdom.
The officers of King Achish were also there. They asked Achish: Is David a king back in his own country? Do the Israelites not dance and sing: 'Saul has killed a thousand enemies; David has killed ten thousand enemies?'
This is David, the one about whom the women sang, as they danced: Saul has killed thousands, but David has killed tens of thousands.
Five of you will be able to defeat a hundred, and a hundred will be able to defeat ten thousand.
Jehovah declares: Though they are strong and are many they will be destroyed! They will pass away. Though I have afflicted you [O Judah] I will not afflict you any more.
