IT is commonly reported that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not among the gentiles, that a man should have his father's wife.
For John had said to him, It is not lawful for you to have her.

and he said, On this account shall a man leave his father and mother, and be joined to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.

Let the deacons be husbands of one wife, ruling well their children and their own houses.
A woman is bound as long as her husband lives; but if her husband is dead then she is free to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
For a woman under a husband is bound by law to a living husband; but if the husband has died she is released from the law of the husband.
