I looked at the mountains, and behold, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly to and fro.
Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke, for the Lord descended upon it in fire; its smoke ascended like that of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.

The mountains quaked at the presence of the Lord, yes, yonder Sinai at the presence of the Lord, the God of Israel.
The mountains tremble and quake before Him and the hills melt away, and the earth is upheaved at His presence -- "yes, the world and all that dwell in it.
The mountains saw You; they trembled and writhed [as if in pain]. The overflowing of the water passed by [as at the deluge]; the deep uttered its voice and lifted its hands on high.
