Therefore I began to cause my heart to despair concerning all the labor in which I had labored under the sun. For there is a man whose labor is with wisdom, with knowledge, and with skillfulness; yet he shall leave it for his portion to a man who has not labored for it. This also is vanity and a great evil. What does man gain from all his labor in which he labors under the sun?

What profit has he who works in that in which he labors?

What a wretched man I am. Who will deliver me out of the body of this death?

You are righteous, LORD, when I contend with you; yet I would reason the cause with you: why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why are they all at ease who deal very treacherously?

He said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? No one is good but one. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments."

The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt. They have done abominable works. There is none who does good.

But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he requested for himself that he might die, and said, "It is enough. Who determined its measures, if you know? Or who stretched the line on it? Whereupon were its foundations fastened? The people spoke against God, and against Moses, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loathes this light bread."

In those days people will seek death, and will in no way find it. They will desire to die, and death will flee from them.
