They had just gone out of the city, and were not far off, when Joseph said to his house steward, "Up, follow the men; and when you overtake them, say to them, 'Why have you repaid evil for good?
They repay me evil for good, To the bereavement of my soul.
And those who repay evil for good, They oppose me, because I follow what is good.
Thus they have repaid me evil for good And hatred for my love.
He who returns evil for good, Evil will not depart from his house.
Should good be repaid with evil? For they have dug a pit for me Remember how I stood before You To speak good on their behalf, So as to turn away Your wrath from them.
If I have rewarded evil to my friend, Or have plundered him who without cause was my adversary,
